Three Steps To Begin.
If the whole subject is unfamiliar and the list above feels like a lot to take in, begin with these three.
- Go along to a munch. A munch is a relaxed social in an everyday public place — clothes stay on and nobody does anything but talk. Say that you are new; people in the kink world would much rather welcome a newcomer with honest questions than one pretending to know it all. Each one is publicized by its organizers, usually on kink social networks or online event boards — and if you are unsure where to look, ask the members you talk to here.
- Learn the vocabulary early. Consent, limits, safewords and aftercare are all covered in the BDSM A–Z glossary. Knowing them tells a potential partner you take safety seriously, which matters far more than any amount of experience.
- Choose partners slowly. Searching close to home is about finding someone you can see again next week, not a one-off. A good fit twenty minutes up the road beats a flawless profile three counties away.
